Education Assistant
We are seeking an Assistant for the Education Department. Working under the supervision of the Education Registrar, the Education Assistant is responsible for ensuring all of the daily operational activities of Education and Curatorial departments are completed as needed. The Education Assistant will also support the Senior Educator, Chief Curator and Deputy Director of Curatorial and Education Programs.

A sample of duties include:

  1. Assist Education Registrar with all facets pertaining to the Studio School; including Creative Summer Art Camp, Art Festival, etc.
  2. Assist with the preparation and publication of Educational materials for distribution to Museum visitors in conjunction with Marketing and Curatorial Departments.
  3. Assist Education Registrar in the sourcing and collection of any and all materials related to Education Programming advertising.
  4. Assist with the collection of attendance information and report as needed.
  5. Assist the Senior Educator with coordination of school, adult, magnet and special need tours; including scheduling, servicing and preparation of resource materials.
  6. Coordinate interns under the direction of Education Registrar and Curatorial Department.
  7. Act as liaison with advertising and publicity sources for Education Department, including placing ads, submitting press releases and directory/calendar listings for both print and internet as needed.
  8. Handle all inquiries and reservations from general public concerning Education and Curatorial Programs.
  9. Provide typing, copying, collating, faxing, distribution services for the department as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above from an accredited college or university with major work in art, art history, museum studies, or closely related field.
  • Applied knowledge or understanding of art materials and terminology
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task
  • Can work both independently and as a team
  • Possess computer skills such as Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Web Development, Event Coordination, Marketing & Advertising experience a plus

Studio Arts Faculty
We are now hiring Art Teachers and Teachers Assistants with a background in art and experience working with students in grades 1 – 12 for our Creative Summer Art Camp 2008.  The dates of the sessions will be June 9-20 I June 23-July3 I July 7-18I July 21-Aug1I Aug 4-15.  If you are interested in working this summer send us your resume today!


Art Teacher - Studio Art Faculty:
The Museum Studio School is a curriculum based preparatory program.
Fall, Winter, and Spring Semesters include Saturday School for grades 1-4, 5-8, 9-12. Also, evening adult classes.
Summer Art Camp Faculty will be assigned an age group; the Summer Art Camp currently has three groups, Grades 1-4, 5-8, 9-12.

  • Faculty for each Summer session will be assigned an age group.
  • Faculty teaching High School and or adult classes will be assigned specific classes, i.e. Figure drawing, watercolor, oil painting, structural drawing, Anatomy and Structure, etc.
  • Prepare syllabi for specific class or classes being taught.
  • Instruct the faculty assistant to prepare the class room with daily supplies as needed.
  • Prepare room prior to class for the days instruction.
  • Submit list of needed supplies to Assistant to be forwarded to Education Registrar weekly for replenishment.
  • Ensuring the safety and well being of the students.
  • Prepare assigned students from grades 1-12 in an orderly fashion for snacks, lunch periods and dismissal.
  • Provide feedback to Education Registrar as requested on class status, including student issues, parent concerns, etc.
  • Handout and collect class evaluation forms or other program forms.
  • Interact with students assisting the understanding of assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred from an accredited art college or university with major work in fine art.
  • A strong portfolio of work to include personal and student work.
  • Must be organized, have competent drawing, painting or appropriate media skills and  computer skills.
  • Must have excellent time management and organization skills
  • Must be outgoing and personable.

Teaching Assistant
Teaching assistants will be assigned an age group; the Summer Art Camp currently has three groups, grades 1-4, 5-8, 9-12.

  • Assist your assigned Faculty for each session.
  • Prepare the class room with daily supplies as instructed by the faculty.
  • Prepare room prior to class for the days instruction.
  • Return art supplies to designated storage areas after each class.
  • Submit list of needed supplies to Education Registrar weekly for replenishment.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety and well being of the students.
  • Prepare students in an orderly fashion for snacks, lunch periods and dismissal.
  • Accompany and assist in student supervision during lunch breaks and on field trips.
  • Provide feedback to Faculty and Education Registrar as requested on class status, including student issues, parent concerns, etc.
  • Handout and collect class evaluation forms or other program forms.
  • Help maintain order within the room.
  • Interact with students assisting the understanding of assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in art, art history, or closely related field.
  • Major in Art at a local High School Magnet School.
  • Must be organized, have competent drawing skills and some computer skills.
  • Must have excellent time management and organization skills
  • Must possess excellent age appropriate communication skills.
  • Must be outgoing and personable.

We are also accepting applications from qualified teachers for our Studio Arts School that is held throughout the year. Teach in your appropriate discipline: Painting (Oil/Watercolor), Drawing, Figure Drawing, Structural Drawing, Design, Mixed-Media, etc.

Artistic Models - needed for Figure Drawing and Painting classes (Studio Arts Program).
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale offers curriculum based art classes to students of all ages. We are searching for males and females of all shapes and sizes who are experienced artistic models to pose for our adult and High School students. Artistic models will either pose nude or sit for portrait sessions.

Experience with classic art poses and gestural work a plus, (non erotic). Must be 18 or over and able to work in the US. Please send a photo (nude not necessary) and contact information to the Education Department at education1@moafl.org.



Internship Program
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale offers college students and AP High School students an opportunity to learn and develop their skills in a museum setting. These are temporary un-paid positions, college credit is available. Internships are available in all departments, including, Education, Curatorial, Finance, Communications, Development and Retail Management.
