Scholarships

The Academy offers need and merit-based scholarships for students in grades 1-12 only. The next session for which we will offer scholarships is Fall 2012. Deadlines will be available soon. Please note that we are not currently accepting Fall or Winter scholarships; scholarships will only be accepted during each semester’s open enrollment period. Open enrollment dates can be found under the “Semester Schedules” page on the left-hand menu, once they are available.

To receive a merit or need-based scholarship to the AutoNation Academy of Art + Design for the Fall or Winter session, please read the guidelines below.

Merit-Based Scholarship:

• Students are invited to submit ONE drawing for scholarship consideration.
• Drawing must be student’s ORIGINAL artwork created by the student applying.
• Maximum size: 14″ × 17″.
• Must be black and white only using pencil only; no charcoal please.
• MUST be a STILL-LIFE drawing of common inanimate objects. For example, we suggest arranging five to ten objects such as small boxes, bowls, cups, glasses, fruit bowl, or other 3-dimensional objects on a table. Draw these objects, try to fill the page, and add object details, such as value, highlights, lowlights, etc. DRAWINGSOTHER THAN AS OUTLINED MAY NOT BE CONSIDERED.
• Student should spend approximately one to two hours on the drawing to add details, etc. High School students should spend about three hours.
• Must be accompanied by a completed scholarship form (parent or guardian signature required), which must be firmly attached to the back of the drawing. This must accompany the fully completed registration form for the current session.
• Entire packet must be received in the education office by 3 p.m., on the deadline date noted in the registration packet. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
• Scholarships do not automatically renew and expire after the session in which you were awarded has ended. Unused scholarships cannot be carried over to a subsequent semester or year.
• Please note that scholarship drawings will NOT be returned.

Need/Merit Based Scholarship:

• Same criteria as above, as well as the following:
• Only students who are eligible for the Federal Free or Reduced School Lunch Program can be considered for a need-based scholarship.Private School students on scholarship may submit a letter from the school’s administration.
• Parents and guardians must get documentation from the students school or school board, that confirms the student eligibility for free or reduced lunch. This form must be submitted along with the scholarship application and registration form as noted above. PARTIAL OR INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Please ensure you have all correct documentation upon submitting. Other documentation will not be accepted.
• All students MUST submit a drawing to receive either a need and/or merit scholarship.
• Musical Theatre students applying for scholarships do not need to submit a drawing.

Once a scholarship entry has been reviewed and finalized, we are unable to reconsider additional documentation, etc. Please ensure all documents are submitted together. All scholarships are for tuition only. Scholarships cannot be combined with other discounts. Please contact the Education Department at or via phone at (954) 262-0239 if you have any questions.
