2008 Summer Adult Class Schedule

OIL PAINTING - Tuesday 6:30 pm – 9 pm
This oil painting class teaches fundamental techniques including paint handling, surface preparation, color mixing and self expression.  Color concept will be reviewed and discussed. Students will learn organization of the picture plane to develop preparation and compositional skills through the use of color, value and texture.
This course is suitable for students with basic knowledge of drawing. However, instructor will work on basic drawing skills using oil paints.


WATERCOLOR - Wednesday 6:30 – 9pm

This course focuses on the transparent medium of watercolor.  It offers an extensive exploration of how to properly mix colors, the brushes, the application and how the paper interacts with all of the above.   Color concept will be reviewed and discussed. Students examine a variety of subjects including the still life and landscape.  The instructor will not only illustrate how to work with this very fluid medium, but will also ensure that the students understand how to draw and see the subject in an effort to create artworks and enhance the total students awareness of the medium.
This course is suitable for students with basic knowledge of drawing. However, instructor will work on basic drawing skills using watercolors.


FIGURE DRAWING – Thursday 6:30 pm – 9 pm

This course will introduce the anatomy & structure of the human figure using a variety of live models and reference to the skeleton. Students will learn proportions of the human skeletal make up, as well as, various artistic model proportions.   Artistic models will perform from dynamic gestural poses to extended poses. Instructors will develop your drawing skills using this subject and engage you in the capabilities of the human form and how you view its physical diversity. Students will partake of this classical medium while enhancing their drawing skills and creative expression.  Primary Medium used will be charcoal and pencils.
This course is suitable for students with basic knowledge of drawing
